D. Byrne - R. Fischer
Boy prodigies in chess have, on the whole, maintained their promise in adult life. Morphy, Capablanca and Reshevsky are all examples of players who approached master class before their teens and later attained world championship calibre. It is doubtful whether any of them in their early years, produced such a brilliant attacking win against a strong opponent as the following game from the New York tournament. Fischer is only 13. … A remarkable game, which fully compares in quality to Reshevsky's win from Janowski at the age of 11 or Pomar's draw with Alekhine at the age of 13. We shall hear much more of Fischer in years to come.
