Herewith are two games from the Rosenwald Trophy Tournament held recently at the Manhattan and Marshall Clubs in New York.
One of them shows winner Samuel Reshevsky's victory over Arthur Bisguier, national and open U.S. champion. Last year, Reshevsky's only loss in this tournament was to Bisguier. This time, after losing his first-round match to Donald Byrne, he needed to defeat Bisguier to win the tournament for a second successive year. He did!
The other score is a brilliancy prize candidate by Bobby Fischer, 13-year-old Brooklyn star, who had an uneven record in the tournament, but who shocked Byrne with his eleventh move and soon chalked this game up on the credit side of the ledger.
