Today, the third Lessing-Rosenwald Trophy Tournament goes on in New York. The first two events in this series were limited to six entrants who played a double round-robin. This year's tournament has 12 players: Reshevsky, Bisguier, S. Bernstein, Donald Byrne, A. Feuerstein, Bobby Fischer (13 years old), I. A. Horowitz, Edmar Mednis, Max Pavey, H. Seidman, G. Shainswit and A. Turner.

The inclusion of Bobby Fischer in this formal masters tournament marks the first time in this country that so young a chess-player has qualified for a tournament of this caliber since the incredible Reshevsky did it in 1922 (at the age of 11).
