Rosenwald Tournament
After a disheartening loss in the first round to Donald Byrne, Sammy Reshevsky buckled down and gave up only two draws in his remaining 10 games, to finish with 9-2, a full 2 points ahead of Arthur Bisguier. Arthur Feuerstein surprised by finishing third with 6½-4½, while U.S. Junior Champion Edmar Mednis was fourth and Donald Byrne fifth. Young Bobby Fischer, now 14 years old, finished 8th in a field of 12, a most respectable showing for the young and promising Brooklynite.
