U.S. Chess Champ, Tourney Leader Will Tangle Tonight
Matches that adjourned until Thursday morning were the highlight of Wednesday night's top play in Oklahoma City's United States Chess federation national open tournament in the Civic room of the Biltmore hotel.
The top match of the tournament will come up Thursday night when Steinmeyer now in first place, will tangle with Bisguier, the U.S. champion.
Robert H. Steinmeyer of St. Louis, currently leading the field with a total of seven points, adjourned his even-steven match with Derwin Kerr of Cranford, N.J., one of the four men in a tie for second place, until the morning.

In other top competition Robert Sherwin, the second-seeded player drew with A. Di Camillo of Philadelphia, Pa. and 13-year-old Bobby Fischer won his match from Dale Ruth of Midwest City.
