Bisguier Is Victor In U.S. Open Chess
4 Other New Yorkers Are Unbeaten After 2 Rounds in Oklahoma City Play
Oklahoma City, July 18—Arthur B. Bisguier, United States champion, and four other New Yorkers, one Missourian and a Canadian remained undefeated as the second round of the open championship of the United States Chess Federation was completed today.
Those, in addition to Bisguier, with 2-0 scores are Edmar Mednis, James T. Sherwin, Paul Brandts and Jeremiah F. Donovan, all of New York, Bob Steinmeyer of St. Louis and Geza Fuster of Toronto, Canada.
Three New Yorkers are in the group with scores of 1½-½. These are Anthony E. Santasiere, Bronx school teacher; Anthony F. Saidy, Fordham University, and Bobby Fischer, 13, of Brooklyn.
Others in the 1½-½ group are Atillio Di Camillo of Philadelphia, Ivan Romenenko, former champion of Plainfield, N. J. and now a resident of Washington, and Simon del Gardo Ramirez of Mexico City.
